Isaac Childres special guest! Plus Cooper island & Barrage

Aug 12, 2020

On this episode Steve, Sarah and Adrian welcome the designer of Forge War, Return To The Dark Tower and of course Gloomhaven and Frosthaven, Isaac Childres.

Isaac talks about what it was like collaborating with other designers on Frosthaven, how Gloomhavensurpassed even his own expectations, and his early experiences designing Flash video games. And he even reveals (or hints to) where he sees the Gloomhaven world in 10 years (henceforth referred to on the show as the GHU).

In Sizzling Games, Sarah has been playing the Euro-inspired worker placement game Cooper Island, carving out her own settlement (soon to be renamed Sarah Island).
Isaac has been playing Barrage, satisfying his thirst for power during the dystopian industrial revolution during the 1930s.

In our Board Game Bracket we reveal the winner from the Through the Ages vs Dead of Winter match-up.

Finally, in Swear An Oath Adrian played Chronicles of Crime and swears to follow it with Tapestry, designed by friend of the show Jamey Stegmaier. Sarah fulfilled both of her oaths, Race For The Galaxy: Alien Artifacts and Papayoo, and has put forward a plea for extra time to complete her next oath: Betrayal at Calth. Even Isaac gets in on the action and swears an oath to play Through The Ages: A New Story Of Civilisation. Finally, Steve admits to hacking the system to bring Xia: Legends of a Drift System to the table so decides to replay it, as well as getting his Downforce on with the Danger Circuit expansion.
