This week Steve and Jules welcome Adrian to the podcast as the team recap the first Board Game Bracket showdown, and there is a lot to unpack from both sides of the contest. Who came out on top – Gloomhaven or Pandemic? And did that game win on both the BGBBQ contributors bracket and the popular vote?
There are some unique games sizzling this week (and Steve proves that even a broken watch can be correct twice a day), and the topic of the week is Social Deduction Games. The team explores what sets these games apart from regular party games, and why lying, cheating, backstabbing and deception are just so much fun!
In our regular Kickstarter segment, Adrian shares what he has backed recently, and everyone comes to the party in the ever-popular segment Swear An Oath. Jules fulfilled his backlog of oaths by playing both Photosynthesis and Quoridor, before swearing to replay Explorers of the North Sea (and upping the level of difficulty of the oath by increasing the player count to five). Steve brought Detective: City of Angels to the table with very little fanfare from his family, and has been inspired by Jules to play Kemet this week. Finally, Adrian swears his first oath by refining his code-breaking skills with Decrypto.
